About

Keep good things close

DAMDA started with one lamp.

An ILKW lamp in a room, photographed by the maker

The kind you pick up with one hand and put down wherever you like. Some days on the desk, some days out on the balcony, and beside the bed before you sleep. No wiring, nothing to commit to a wall.

After living with it a while, we realised how much a small object like that changes a room.

From that lamp we started looking for more things from Korea. Not to fill a shop, but to choose slowly — things we would want in our own homes, where we know who made them, what they are made of, and that we would still like them in a few years.

That became DAMDA HAUS.

Thai and Korean, together

DAMDA HAUS is a Thai team working together with a Korean partner who has been in homeware for years — who has sold these things, lived with them, and knows which makers take their work seriously.

So everything that reaches Thailand has been carefully selected by someone who understands it at source — chosen for its design, its materials, and how it is to live with.

Starting with light

The first thing we brought in was lighting from ILKW.

ILKW is from Daegu, South Korea. They began making bulbs in 1962 and grew into the lighting brand they are today.

What we like is how easy the lamps are to live with. You do not have to plan where they go, and the moment you switch one on the room around it changes.

After lighting we want to add tableware, textiles and other small things for the house — slowly, a few at a time, when we find something we really like.

Keep good things close

In Korean, damda means something close to putting a thing away, keeping it, holding it.

We do not think a good thing has to be expensive, or the most important object in the room. Sometimes it is a small lamp, a glass, or something on the table you use every day.

If you like using it, and you want to keep it close, that is enough for us.

How we choose

One at a time

Everything in DAMDA is something we wanted to use ourselves first. If we are not sure, we do not bring it in.

Straight from the maker

Product information comes directly from the maker. For any further details, we check with them for you.

For yourself, or for someone else

We like things you do not have to wait for an occasion to buy. ILKW's packaging is designed to be gift-ready as it is.

Come and see

DAMDA HAUS shares Podium's showroom in Sathorn. Come and see the first collection — the colours, the materials, a lamp switched on — and decide from there. Visit details
